Our promises
How we work
- We act for people, never lenders.
- Alivio takes no instructions or payment from lenders or collectors.
- We never guarantee outcomes.
- We explain what each route usually involves. The result depends on your situation and on the people who decide it.
- We tell you straight.
- If your situation doesn’t need fixing, we say so.
- No referral fees.
- Trustees don’t pay to be on our panel, and we take nothing for introductions.
- Your numbers stay with you.
- Our calculators run on your device and send nothing.
For Licensed Insolvency Trustees
Join the panel
When someone in Canada needs a consumer proposal or a bankruptcy, Alivio introduces them to a panel trustee who serves their province. Joining is free.

How formal routes work here
Canada has two formal routes out of unmanageable debt: a consumer proposal and a bankruptcy. Both run under the federal Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, and only a Licensed Insolvency Trustee can file them.
When your situation points that way, Alivio introduces you to a trustee on our panel who serves your province. The trustee makes their own assessment, and nobody pays anybody for the introduction.
What Alivio doesn’t do
- File consumer proposals or bankruptcies. That is a trustee’s role.
- Settle debts with your creditors for a fee.
- Lend money or arrange loans.
- Give legal or financial advice. We give guidance and support.
Not sure where to start?

Regions / South Africa
South Africa
In South Africa, Alivio’s work runs through Consumer Credit Law (CCL), a consumer credit consultancy that acts only for borrowers, never for banks or credit providers.
What CCL helps with
- Stopping sales in execution of homes
- Vehicle repossession defence
- Responding to Section 129 notices
- Leaving debt review
- Reckless lending claims
- Credit report clean-up and the Credit Health Check
Court work in South Africa is handled by independent affiliate attorneys.

Free tools
See where you stand
Five calculators that run on your device. Nothing you type here is sent or saved.
Over-indebtedness check
Measures your debts against your income the way Canadian lenders do, and checks your answers against the signs the federal insolvency test looks for. Replace the example figures with yours.
Money stress check
Six statements about the last month. Choose how often each one was true for you. Your answers stay on this device.
Budget planner
Lay out a month of money in and money out, and see what’s left.
Debt payoff
How long one debt takes to clear at a steady payment, and what a little more each month saves.
Minimum payment trap
Paying only the minimum on a card keeps you paying for years. Compare it with holding your first payment steady.

Scenarios
How the options look in practice
These are illustrative scenarios, not clients. Names, places and figures are invented to show how each route works.
Reported decisions
Real Canadian court and tribunal decisions will appear here. We add each one only after checking it against the official report.
Wellness
Look after yourself while you sort out the money
Debt pressure shows up in sleep, mood, relationships and health. Alivio’s wellness programs give you support and a steady plan, alongside the practical steps.
Breathing Room
One hour a week on what money stress does to sleep, mood and relationships. Each week ends with one small step, and you finish with a plan you can keep.
Relief Sessions
Private sessions to map what you owe, what’s urgent and what can wait. When a formal route fits, we introduce you to a trustee on our panel.
Money and Mind talks
Talks on debt and wellbeing for teams and groups. Bookings open after launch.
Start with the money stress check
Six statements, two minutes, and a reading of how much the strain is showing. Your answers stay on your device.
If you’re struggling
Alivio’s wellness programs are educational support. They are not medical or mental health treatment. If stress is affecting your health, please also talk to your doctor or a counsellor.
For Licensed Insolvency Trustees
Join the Alivio trustee panel
Alivio helps people in Canada understand their debt and look after their wellbeing. When someone needs a formal route, a consumer proposal or a bankruptcy, we introduce them to an independent Licensed Insolvency Trustee on our panel.
How the panel works
